Phnom Penh, June 25, 2024: In a significant step towards environmental collaboration, Cambodia’s Minister of Environment, Dr. Eang Sophalleth, and South Korea’s Minister for Trade, Industry and Energy, Inkyo Cheong, have formalized their commitment to climate action. The two ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focusing on the implementation of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. The signing ceremony was a key highlight at the sidelines of the Global Net Zero Connection 2024 event in Seoul, South Korea, earlier today.

This MoU marks a pivotal moment in the collaborative efforts of both nations to combat climate change and emphasizes their commitment to achieving their respective and collective environmental goals. Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, which focuses on voluntary international cooperation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, is central to this new partnership.

The agreement is expected to foster not only environmental sustainability but also economic and technological cooperation between the two countries as they work towards a greener future.
